A massive thrill to have the Ranfurly Shield visit our shared space today and a special chance for HIVE coworkers to bask in reflected glory.
We have to wonder what Lord Ranfurly, the then Governor of New Zealand, would make of his donated silverware being admired in a modern corporate office environment? A little history: according to the Heartland Rugby website, the original trophy was to be a cup which, at its unveiling, turned out to be the shield but with the centre piece depicting the round ball game!
HIVE coworkers got to have a close up view of a special piece of New Zealand and Bay social history still in the making, and we extend our thanks to the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union for allowing us to experience the buzz.
Go the Bay!
Our sincere thanks to Councillor Damon Harvey for arranging the Shield's visit.
